Product Description
Electro galvanized steel coil, commonly known as EG coil, is produced by depositing a thin, uniform layer of zinc onto cold rolled steel strip through an electrolytic plating process. Unlike hot-dip galvanizing, electro-galvanizing applies a much thinner and more precisely controlled coating, resulting in an exceptionally smooth, bright surface.
At JGT Group, we supply electro galvanized steel coil in thicknesses from 0.3mm to 3.0mm and widths from 600mm to 2000mm. Common grades include SECC, SECD, SECE, DC01+ZE and CS Type B, manufactured in accordance with JIS G3313, EN 10152, ASTM A591 and GB/T 15675 standards.
Coating weights range from 5 to 40 g/m² on both sides, with pure zinc or zinc-nickel alloy coatings. The thin, uniform layer preserves the excellent surface quality and formability of the cold rolled base, making EG coil ideal for applications where appearance and precision matter.
With an annual output of 200,000 tons, JGT Group is a reliable electro galvanized steel coil manufacturer and supplier serving customers in more than 100 countries. We support customized dimensions, slitting and packaging, and every shipment includes a mill test certificate.
Main Features
1. Mirror-Like Surface Quality
Electrolytic plating produces an exceptionally smooth, bright, defect-free surface that matches the quality of the cold rolled base. Electro galvanized steel coil is the preferred material for visible parts such as computer enclosures, office equipment panels and appliance exteriors.
2. Precise, Uniform Thin Coating
Unlike hot-dip galvanizing, electro-galvanizing applies a thin, highly uniform zinc layer with exact thickness control. Coating weights from 5 to 40 g/m² can be specified precisely, ensuring consistent corrosion protection without affecting dimensional accuracy or surface smoothness.
3. Excellent Formability & Weldability
Because the zinc layer is thin and tightly bonded, EG coil retains the outstanding formability of its cold rolled substrate. It can be stamped, deep drawn, bent and welded without coating peeling, making it ideal for complex parts that combine tight tolerances with corrosion resistance.
4. Consistent Coating Uniformity
The electrolytic process distributes zinc evenly across the full width and length of the strip, with coating variation far lower than hot-dip galvanizing. This uniformity delivers predictable performance in high-speed stamping and continuous production lines.
5. Ideal for Electronics & Precision Parts
The combination of a clean, bright surface, precise dimensions and electromagnetic shielding properties makes EG coil the standard material for computer cases, server cabinets, battery shells and precision electronic components.
6. Consistent Quality & Factory-Direct Supply
Each coil is inspected for coating weight, surface condition, chemical composition and mechanical properties, with a mill test certificate provided for every order. As a factory-direct supplier, JGT Group offers competitive electro galvanized steel coil prices with reliable on-time delivery.

FAQ
Q1. What is electro galvanized steel coil?
Electro galvanized steel coil, or EG coil, is cold rolled steel strip coated with a thin, uniform layer of zinc through an electrolytic plating process. It offers a bright, smooth surface and excellent formability, and is widely used in electronics, office equipment and precision stamping.
Q2. What is the difference between electro galvanized (EG) and hot-dip galvanized (GI) coil?
EG coil has a much thinner and more uniform zinc coating (typically 5–40 g/m²) applied electrolytically, giving a smoother, brighter surface and better formability, but lower corrosion resistance. GI coil has a thick zinc coating (Z40–Z275) applied by hot dipping, offering far greater corrosion protection for outdoor and structural use.
Q3. What grades and standards do you supply?
We supply grades including SECC, SECD, SECE, DC01+ZE, DC04+ZE and CS Type B, manufactured according to JIS G3313, EN 10152, ASTM A591 and GB/T 15675 standards. Equivalent grades can be supplied upon request.
Q4. Why is the EG coating thinner than hot-dip galvanizing?
Electro-galvanizing is designed for applications where surface quality, precision and formability matter more than maximum corrosion protection. The thin, uniform coating preserves the appearance and tolerances of the cold rolled base, and is normally sufficient for indoor applications such as electronics and appliances.
Q5. What is your MOQ and delivery time?
Our MOQ is one 20' container (about 25 tons), and trial orders are accepted for samples. Standard production lead time is 7–15 days after deposit, depending on specification and quantity. We ship from Tianjin Port, China, and can arrange FOB, CIF, CFR and DDP terms.
Q6. Can you provide customized sizes and processing?
Yes. We offer slitting, cut-to-length, edge trimming, oiling and custom packaging. You can specify thickness, width, coating weight, inner diameter and coil weight according to your production needs.
Q7. Do you provide quality certificates?
Every order includes a Mill Test Certificate covering coating weight, chemical composition and mechanical properties. Third-party inspection such as SGS, BV and TUV is available upon request.
