Product Description
Hot rolled carbon steel coil is produced by heating slabs above recrystallization temperature and rolling them into strip on continuous mills. It is one of the most economical and widely used steel products, providing a balance of strength, formability and weldability for large-scale industrial applications.
At JGT Group, we supply hot rolled carbon steel coil in thicknesses from 1.2mm to 25mm and widths from 600mm to 2000mm. Common grades include Q195, Q235B, Q275, SPHC, SS400, A36 and S235JR, manufactured in accordance with GB/T 700, ASTM A36/A1011, EN 10025 and JIS G3131 standards.
Coils are supplied in the as-rolled black finish or with pickled & oiled surfaces, depending on your downstream process. Pickled and oiled coils are ideal for cold rolling, stamping and tube making, while black coils suit structural fabrication where surface scale is not an issue.
With an annual output of 200,000 tons, JGT Group is a reliable hot rolled carbon steel coil manufacturer and supplier serving customers in more than 100 countries. We support customized dimensions, slitting, cut-to-length and packaging, and every shipment includes a mill test certificate.
Main Features
1. Cost-Effective Production
Hot rolling is the most economical way to produce large volumes of carbon steel strip. The process delivers high output at lower cost than cold rolling, making hot rolled carbon steel coil the best value choice for structural and general-purpose applications where surface finish is not critical.
2. Wide Thickness Range
We supply hot rolled carbon steel coil from 1.2mm to 25mm thickness, covering everything from light-gauge stamping stock to heavy structural strip. This wide range allows customers to source multiple specifications from a single reliable manufacturer.
3. Balanced Strength & Formability
Hot rolled carbon steel coil offers an excellent balance of mechanical strength, ductility and toughness. Grades such as SPHC and Q235B support bending, flanging and moderate forming, while SS400 and A36 deliver dependable load-bearing performance for structural use.
4. Excellent Weldability
Low carbon hot rolled grades exhibit excellent weldability using conventional methods without preheating. This makes our coils the preferred substrate for welded structures, ERW pipes and fabricated assemblies where joining is a core process.
5. Versatile Surface Options
Coils are available in the as-rolled black finish for structural applications, or pickled & oiled for cold rolling, stamping and tube making. Pickled & oiled surfaces remove scale and apply rust-preventive oil, giving downstream processors a clean, ready-to-work material.
6. Consistent Quality & Factory-Direct Supply
Each coil is inspected for chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy, with a mill test certificate provided for every order. As a factory-direct supplier, JGT Group offers competitive hot rolled carbon steel coil prices with reliable on-time delivery.
Applications
Hot rolled carbon steel coil is the workhorse material of modern industry:
🏗 Structural Fabrication
Beams, columns, roof sheets, purlins and general steel structures for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as bridges and platforms.
🔧 Pipe & Tube Manufacturing
The primary substrate for ERW pipes, spiral welded pipes and square/rectangular tubes used in water supply, gas transmission, scaffolding and structural applications.
🚗 Stamping & Automotive Parts
SPHC and Q235B coils are stamped and formed into chassis parts, brackets, wheels, containers and agricultural machinery components.
⚙️ Machinery & Equipment
Machine frames, storage racks, tanks, silos and general mechanical parts requiring dependable strength and weldability.
🚢 Shipbuilding & Heavy Engineering
Structural sections and components for ships, offshore structures and heavy equipment, where certified mechanical properties are essential.
📦 Other Applications
Guardrails, fencing, metal furniture, cable trays and general fabrication. Our engineering team can recommend the most suitable grade for your project.
FAQ
Q1. What is hot rolled carbon steel coil?
Hot rolled carbon steel coil is steel strip produced by rolling reheated slabs on continuous mills at high temperature. It offers good strength, formability and weldability at low cost, and is widely used for structural fabrication, pipe making, stamping and general engineering.
Q2. What is the difference between hot rolled and cold rolled coil?
Hot rolled coil is rolled at high temperature, offering larger thicknesses (1.2mm–25mm), a scaled surface and lower cost. Cold rolled coil is processed at room temperature from pickled hot rolled strip, providing tighter tolerances, a smoother surface and thinner gauges (0.15mm–6mm) at higher cost.
Q3. What grades and standards do you supply?
We supply grades including Q195, Q235B, Q275, SPHC, SPHD, SS400, A36 and S235JR, manufactured according to GB/T 700, ASTM A36/A1011, EN 10025 and JIS G3131 standards. Equivalent grades can be supplied upon request.
Q4. What is pickled & oiled coil?
Pickled & oiled (P&O) coil is hot rolled coil that has been pickled in acid to remove surface scale, then oiled to prevent rusting. It provides a clean, smooth surface ready for cold rolling, stamping, tube making or painting without further surface preparation.
Q5. What is your MOQ and delivery time?
Our MOQ is one 20' container (about 25 tons), and trial orders are accepted for samples. Standard production lead time is 7–15 days after deposit, depending on specification and quantity. We ship from Tianjin Port, China, and can arrange FOB, CIF, CFR and DDP terms.
Q6. Can you provide customized sizes and processing?
Yes. We offer slitting, cut-to-length, edge trimming, pickling & oiling and custom packaging. You can specify thickness, width, inner diameter and coil weight according to your production needs.
Q7. Do you provide quality certificates?
Every order includes a Mill Test Certificate covering chemical composition and mechanical properties. Third-party inspection such as SGS, BV and TUV is available upon request.
